The Jungle Couch

The Jungle Couch is a botanical space studio base in Maine that specializing in living plant wall installations for your home, office, or any place where you think you need some greenery. Owned and operated by the talented Mackenzie McKinnon, she focuses on the use of succulent plants, ferns, mushrooms and other botanicals to create a lush environment in your own home. The best part is you don’t have to worry about watering the plants because they are naturally preserved!

When Mackenzie described how she wanted to create installations that immerse her clients in nature and wanted her brand to embody that feeling, I was instantly inspired by the painting The Dream by Henri Rousseau. Along with the name being inspired by her family’s vintage couch covered in jungle patterns, Mackenzie described wanting the brand to have a retro aesthetic with clean lines, earthy textures and colors. Through the development of custom wordmarks and illustrations inspired by the pattern of her family couch, I created scenes in the brand where typography and icons were immersed in botanical environments. The use of the flora growing over and around the marks and illustrations embodies the serene one experiences when working with Mackenzie, and emphasizes what she does best.
